WHAT'S HAPPENING

Join us on Thursday 11 September for Southwest London’s hottest new poetry night - If Poets Ruled the World! Whether you’re new to writing, a regular performer or someone just looking to do something a bit different on a weeknight, everyone is welcome! You can find us at Walnut Tree Café, which is located in the Sands Arts & Community Centre on Peterborough Road. Doors will open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start. Open mic slots will be offered on a first come first served basis, please come early to avoid disappointment. This event is founded and hosted by Ruth Elora (also known as the Mayfair Poet) and Salma the Poet. Ruth and Salma met in early 2025 and bonded over the lack of poetry events in their local area. They noticed they cared about the same things - both feeling passionately about community, inclusivity, and encouraging others to share their voice. Fast forward a few months later and If Poets Ruled the World was born!
